 lessLIE ( Coast Salish ) - SERPENTS

Artist Statement: Serpents

As a visual tribute to life in it's many forms on EARth, this rectangular design depicts six serpents. Three serpents face left and three face right, yet the simultaneously define each other--visual punning that symbolizes communal interdependence. The black and red colors of the design as well as the serpents allude to Christian concepts of serpents and nature and treacherous

because of Adam's rib
because of what Eve did

Yet this design in its aesthetic quality is a tribute to serpents and how they are vital to life on the circle of the earth.
