Artist Statement: The Salmon people of the Cowichan River have had to survive the ecological damage brought on by logging, littering, and sewage. In the Cowichan River, sewage is dumped into the river at a point where the Cowichan reserve begins. This is a national disgRACE. As sewage runs along the bottom of the Cowichan river as it runs through the Cowichan reserve, the racist undercurrent of Canadian society towards First Nations should be evident.
