David Ben Sisia - Tangla

Artist Statement: Tangla is the name of a dwarf who lived by the beach and was always fishing. A flying fish here assumes its customary position in malagan: biting the chin of a humanoid figure. Gunn (2006, p. 222*) records an authoritative interpretation: "the flying fish represents the speech of a leader, travelling far." Compare with Marumarua.
