Artist Statement: Silent Waters, Setting Sun
The idea behind this piece was to recreate that quiet, peaceful time of day I have observed when rowing on the water, the time when the sun is setting. After spending more time on the water, and looking at its textures rather than just the beauty of the scene, so many variations of texture emerged. More than anything this piece is a study of textures and traditional form compared to realistic texture, and the rich colours of the setting sun.
