Darrell Hill (b. 1971) was born in Hazelton, BC and now resides in the nearby village of Kitwanga. Showing artistic talent at an early age, Darrell studied art first in school and later at Camosun College in Victoria, BC. In 1992, Darrell embarked on a full time visual arts course in Victoria and then returned to his home in Kitwanga. While continuing to pursue his art from home, Darrell then enrolled in the Kitanmax School of Northwest Native Art in the fall of 1994, in nearby Hazelton, BC. Darrell graduated from this intensive 4-year program in April 1998 and has continued to experiment and refine his artistic expression. He enjoys carving rattles, bowls, masks, and totem poles; both full scale and model. In addition to his carving, Darrell paints in acrylics and is exploring silkscreen techniques.
