Claytus Yambon
Iatmul Tribe Korogo Village, Mid-Sepik,
Claytus Yambon is a senior master carver from Korogo Village. He was taught to carve by his grandfather's brother Uri, and represented Papua New Guinea at an International Carvers Exchange held in Victoria B.C. in 1986. Claytus also plays a key role in the organization of Alcheringa Gallery's Sepik River expeditions and, along with his wife Esther, has created a warm and welcoming base in Korogo Village over many years.
Claytus was chosen to create one of the house posts for the Haus Tambaran in Korogo Village. He and Esther also established one of the first village based guest houses on the river.
