Edward Dumoi was born in Palembei Village in 1972. He comes from a large family of carvers and learned to carve from his father. As well as major ceremonial carvings, Edward is recognised for the creation of sculptures inspired by life in the village, such as a kitten in pursuit of a ball or a dog suckling her puppy.

His work can be found in international collections in Australia, Canada and the United States.
