"I started to carve in 1980, when I was in Grade One in the village school. I like to make carvings that represent my culture, and I am very happy that I can provide a good living for my family.
"Long, long ago, there lived a brother and sister, Guniakameri and Gumakimali. These creatures were very powerful and could change into anything. Their main food was human flesh. During the day, they moved around with the villagers just like the others, but when night fell they transformed into snakes, moved underground, and went looking for their food. One day the villagers saw one of them holding a skull of a man and realized that these were the human flesh eaters."
