Robert Tait (b. 1953) is a Nisga'a artist born in Prince Rupert, BC to Mr. and Mrs. Josiah Tait. He comes from a very talented family, joining the ranks of this two older brothers, Norman and Alver.
Robert is an experienced wood carver, carving such objects as spoons, bowls, masks, traditional ceremonial regalia, canoes and monumental totem poles. Robert also does carving in sterling silver and 14k gold jewellery. In 1980, he completed a carving and design course sponsored by the Indian Arts & Crafts Society of BC. This course was taught by his brother, renowned Nisga'a artist Norman Tait. After completion of this course, Robert went on to apprentice under his brother.
