Joseph Kandimbu was born on Christmas Day in 1963 in Tambanum village. When Joseph was eight years old his father died and he was taught to carve by his mother's brother, Arnold Mundo.

He is now an eminent master carver known for monumental ceremonial carvings such as roof finials and masks.Many of his recent works are original carvings inspired by traditional myths. Since 2006
