Seru Ongge was the “dean” of Sentani barkcloth painters, respected for his high standard and creative compositions with the traditional designs. He often filled the entire space of a painting with intricate designs, unlike the traditional artists and most modern painters. He may be person most responsible for the revival of high quality Sentani barkcloth painting in the early 1990’s.
