Shirley Adams Poulson
Haida
Shirley Poulsen (b. 1956) learned to make button blankets with her grandmother Agnes (Edenshaw) Yeltatzie, beginning when she was eight years old. Shirley has been influenced and inspired by her cousin, famed Haida artist, Robert Davidson. Her designs are all based in tradition and she uses only mother of pearl or abalone buttons.
Shirley is involved in traditional Haida dance and song. She has rights to many dances and has performed in a dance group with Robert Davidson.
Recently Shirley has branched into a range of contemporary fashions using fine wool crepes and silks, featuring Haida motifs.
