Artist Statement: “The frog is highly respected creature for its supernatural abilities. Frogs are used by medicine people, both good and bad, as power sources. The reason the frog’s tongue is black is because of its ability to cause death. The frog also has the power to create great things. Supernatural fort give birth to coppers to bestow on certain ancestors. The frog also appears in the warrior dance, such as Tuxwid, where a woman will give birth to a frog, displaying her supernatural abilities and connection to this powerful being.”
