Three years in the making, Mind, Body, Soul (Shaman's Mask) was started during Luke Marston's stay in Japan. Stylistically informed by Buddhist iconography and the Noh masks of Japanese classical theatre, Marston’s Mind, Body, Soul(Shaman's Mask) depicts a Coast Salish narrative of a shamanic ritual performed on a lost soul.
Teddy Balangu’s Suspension Hook was carved at Alcheringa during the artist’s six month residency at MOA in 2006 and has recently entered the secondary market. This unique work is carved in Northwest Coast yellow cedar but maintains a traditional Papua New Guinean form.
Alcheringa Gallery is proud to introduce the work of Teslin Tlingit / Teslin Haida artist Jean Taylor. Taylor’s portraits brilliantly observe Raven’s personality with intelligence and careful reflection.
