An exhibition of Oceanic art, specifically Papua New Guinea art, by master artists from along the Sepik River. Colourful wood carvings of hornbill birds by these celebrated artists are a spring celebration of flight. Birds from Paradise is a combination of traditional tribal art forms and contemporary Oceanic carving.

' We call these 'samban', we use them to hold bilums or baskets containing food that we may have smoked in the fire. We want to protect (the food) from rats, ants and other insects and especially from the spirits who live in trees to prevent them from eating our food. We only carve animals or birds that belong to our clan'

Kaua Gita explains the use of a suspension hook
