Artist's Statement
"This story is about a woman and her husband who were expecting a baby. As the time approached to give birth, the people from the village were concerned that all was not well with the pregnancy. They encouraged her to have an operation to have the baby removed from her stomach. The woman was very afraid and thought she would die, but the white cockatoo arrived to reassure her. He led her to a magic man who let the waters out: she gave birth to a baby. All the villagers and animals from the bush came to celebrate the arrival of the baby."
