The first Cowichan man who fell from the sky was named Syalutsa. Syalutsa's younger brother, Stutsun, also fell from the sky. When Syalutsa began to live in Cowichan land, he initiated many Cowichan traditions. Syalutsa also taught his younger brother Stutsun to respect and appreciate nature. Stutsun learned that rain is the weather's way of washing the world. Stutsun also learned a lesson which would be good for many contemporary metrocentric denizens of the world.
