Christian White (b. 1962) was born in Haida Gwaii (Queen Charlotte Islands). He is a member of the Haida Nation. Christian, taught by his father Morris White, began carving in argillite and by the age of 14 had shown remarkable talent. Since then, he has developed a deep awareness of tradition and Haida form and also works in wood, gold, silver, and ivory. He has been involved with several major canoe building projects with his father and has worked with Haida carver, Jim Hart.
Christian White is internationally renowned for his fine argillite carvings. His work is found in many important private collections.
