Details

This print displays Art Thompson's knowledge of Nootkan form and his vibrant use of colour. The geometric rock, the curlicue waves, and the four-way split are traditional Nootkan design motifs. In the center is a chiton (marine mollusc of the BC Coast) crouched over the rocks, where it lives. The chiton was/is a food source for generations of coastal indigenous people around the world, including the Northwest Coast of Canada.
