This piece reflects a memory that I have of my grandfather, Edward Edenshaw, tapping with his talking stick as he sang a prayer song about the loss of his yellow cedar bark blanket. At the end of his presentation my grandfather looked out into the big house and saw that his real treasures were still all there. They were the children - the hope for future generations. I am honouring that memory in the creation of this box. It illustrates the arrival of the very First Children emerging from the clam shell carried by raven. Christian White 2008
