The ‘Berries to Beads’ project is based on a unique digital beading technique I developed that combines berries with high resolution digital tools to create scalable ‘beaded’ works. The © Berries to Beads technique mirrors traditional beading: it is both a meticulous and technically demanding practice and an art form that showcases Métis history and the importance of plant and animal life. This new technique is a natural evolution of my previous plant-based works. I am a plant scientist and, as such, am constantly searching for novel ways to integrate plant material, women’s traditional handwork and high resolution digital tools.
